The Difference Between Photograph Restoration & Photograph Conservation

Photo First Aid offers photograph restoration which consists of scanning a copy of the photograph into a computer using a professional scanner. We then edit, restore and enhance a digital copy of the photograph using some computer wizardry and a lot of technical skill! Once the digital image has been restored it is printed using a professional printer (and is available in a variety of finishes) and handed back to the customer who will receive the original photograph and a newly restored copy of their photograph.
Photographic conservation involves repairing the original photograph itself and unfortunately this is not a service we are able to provide.

For the vast majority of cases we would recommend restoration as the preferred option of photo rescue. It is quicker, cheaper, and there is no worry about the original being damaged in the process of restoration.
